Beaver-
Lucille Paice Strong- , Mom, Grandma, Great grandma, Sis, Lu, and Aunt passed away on February 8, 2010 in Beaver, Utah. Born May 11, 1922 to C. Edwin and Martha Dean Paice in Beaver, Utah.
Mom was born and raised in Beaver. After graduation from Beaver High School, she attended B.Y.U., U. of U. and the L.D.S. Business school.
In 1945 mom enlisted in the WAVES - US Navy - WWII as a 2nd Class Hospital Corpsman. She entered boot camp at Hunter College in the Bronx, in New York City. She was later stationed in San Diego at the US Naval Hospital. She received an Honorable Discharge from the US Navy in December 1946 as a Pharmacist Mate 2nd Class. While in San Diego, she met a sailor, Cloyce Leland Strong (Lee) whom she married. They made their home in Beaver where they raised their 6 children. They later were divorced.
Mom worked for Beaver City as the Treasurer for 30 years. In 1993 she retired. She spent her retired years reading four daily newspapers, daily trips to the post office; sports on the "telly" and visits with friends and family. Mom enjoyed sewing, taking care of her beautiful yard and many other activities which kept her spry. She was a humanitarian.
---she never turned down an opportunity to help those in need.
Mom was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved genealogy and church history. She served in various teaching and leadership positions and served as a Relief Society Visiting Teaching with her dear friend until the fall of 2009.
She was an active member of the community: Chairman Beaver County Courthouse Museum of 14 years; active in EMT's for 19 years; and taught first aide to cub scouts; and was active in Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
Mom enjoyed her children and her grandchildren by attending many of their activities. The corner in her home is filled with a noisy, worn-out marble game and toys for all children to play with while parents came to visit. As her grandchildren grew into adults, the grandchildren were replaced with great grandchildren and the cycle continues. Mom enjoyed her family especially large gatherings.
Lucille is survived by her children; Mike ( Parowan, UT); Lynn (Sandy), (Garden Grove, CA.); Linda (Dave) Hair, Las Vegas, NV; Sharon (Kelly) Madson, Yakima, WA; Cynthia Sweares, West Valley, UT; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grand children; siblings: Leon
